How to open a *.vba file

I recently came across a project in need of updating that was written quite a few years ago (though the exact version of VB we don’t know). The only source code I was able to find was with a .vba extension but I am having issues finding a program to open this type of extension. I have tried using Visual Studio Suits but maybe it is too new of a version? Thank you for any help!
