Adding some form of scheduler to a VB6 program to inform a user when jobs are due

Hi all.

Im currently using Visual Basic 6 to develop a preventative maintenance program for a beef production plant here in Ireland. The program consists of a Work Order (list of jobs to that have to be carried out on a machine) for every machine listed on the program. I have 25 machines put onto the program and so there is at least 1 Work order for each of them.

I now need my program to be able to schedule these work orders to be done weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually, depending on the machine itself. For example, one of the machines in the program, a rotary vac pack machine requires scheduled work to be done on it weekly and monthly so I need my program to be able to schedule this work and inform me when the machine's next work order is due to be completed.

In other words, today is the 29th of January so since work needs to be carried out on a weekly basis on this Rotary Vac Pack machine, I need my VB program to inform me in 6 days that work has to be carried out on that machine tomorrow and continue to alert me every week that work has to be continually done.

Is this even possible and if so, how can it be done because to be honest I have no idea.

Any help would be appreciated.
